Case of the Month

After much deliberation with her surgeon we decided to try her with the splint off.  What hastened this decision is that she also developed a problem with the discs in her back!  UGH!  Frustrating!  So now she is painful and weak on her front end and painful on her back end.  This is a bad combination for such a nice dog.  Since she needed her front leg to support her weight and heal her back we decided to risk further injury to her front leg to protect her back.  Fortunately the risk paid off.   After just 2 days with her splint off she was walking around on her front leg like nothing was ever wrong.  With rest and steroids she is now back “working” at Gentle Vet Animal Hospital three days a week.  At the end of the month we’ll try to wean her off her steroids, and just deal with her normal arthritis issues.  Thanks again for following Mousse’s case. We’ll have a new case for you next month!
