Gentle Vet Animal Hospital
"A Gentle Approach to Veterinary Care"
March 24, 2020 - WE'RE STILL OPEN!! We are considered an "essential business" and will be open at this time. However, please see the update from yesterday about what to expect for your visit to our hospital.
March 23, 2020 - EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - In order to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are asking all clients to call us from the parking lot to let us know they are here for appointments, surgery admits, or supplies. **Please stay in your vehicle until we call you and instruct you to do otherwise.** If you do not have a cell phone, or yours is running low on battery, please come knock on the door inside the vestibule and we will give you a sanitized phone to use.
We will also be limiting the number of well pet/vaccine visits and nail trims in order to allow enough time to care for sick and injured animals. Thank you for your patience during this difficult time. We intend to keep serving your pets to the best of our ability under these circumstances.
March 19, 2020 - Saturday Hours
Gentle Vet Animal Hospital will be closed on Saturdays until further notice to allow additional time for disinfecting.
Thank you for understanding.

Here at Gentle Vet Animal Hospital, our biggest priority is our patient’s health and wellness, so despite the COVID-19 pandemic, for the time being we exempt from current state and federal shutdowns and are staying open for ‘business as usual’. If this changes for any reason, we will keep everyone updated.
A close second priority is the health and wellness of our clients and staff. We already clean and disinfect daily or more often, but have significantly increased our efforts during this time. We ask that any person who is experiencing respiratory illness (coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath) or fever, please do not come with your pet to the appointment. We also ask to limit the number of people that come to your pet's appointment to only those absolutely necessary.
If you are experiencing respiratory illness and have an appointment for routine vaccinations, elective surgery (spay, neuter, or other non-urgent surgeries) please call and re-schedule for a later date when you are feeling well.
If you are experiencing respiratory illness and your pet is sick, or needs to be seen, please try to find another person to bring your pet in. We are happy to talk to you over the phone regarding your pet, their diagnosis, and our treatment or diagnostic plan. If you are unable to find someone to bring your pet to see us, please call ahead so we can properly prepare protection for our staff and other clients. We will instruct you what to do. If you are an existing client and we have seen your pet within the last 12 months, at the veterinarian's discretion we may be able to help with a phone or email consultation. Please have your Credit Card or Care Credit handy for payment. There are some conditions, however that cannot be appropriately diagnosed or treated without our doctors physically examining your pet.
At this time according to the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and CDC, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can infect or be transmitted by animals. However, there is a lot that the medical community is still learning, and it is best to practice good hygiene and social distancing when it comes to our pets as well. Here is a FAQ.pdf sheet made for pet owners by the AVMA with more information:

"I have been using this clinic for 18+ years. My first dog, Sheba for 14 yrs until the end of her life. When I had to make the awful decision to let her go, I stayed with her and she was treated with such care and compassion. After many years of not having a dog, I now have a 4yr old Havanese. On her first exam, she had abnormal blood work which was tested again with the same results. As a result, the were several trips to the Vet Clinic in Appleton, samples of tissue sent to NY to treat her. Had it not been for the care and diligence of Dr Gilbert, I don't know if Bella would still be here. Everyone there, from reception to assistants to Dr's Gilbert and Gray have always provided great care and compassion. I even get a follow-up call to see how she is doing after shots or meds."

We're Silver Certified!
So what does that mean for you and your pet?
From the Low Stress Handling information page:
"This logo signifies that the people you are dealing with have spent a lot of time learning Dr. Yin’s methods for reducing stress in animals. They know how to hold a leash, how to offer treats and countercondition animals to having medical treatment, and the perfect way to do a medical wrap. What does that mean to you? Simple: a more pleasant experience at the vet’s and a happier pet. It also means that they can use methods that can reduce the need for sedation first, reducing risk and pet health costs. It means you can trust that person to treat your pet like you’d want them to be treated. With skill, professionalism and care. Whether you see this on a certificate or a nametag, it says good things about how your pet will be treated and that gives you peace of mind."
To become Silver Certified, our team has spent 15 hours on lectures, 12 hours on practice sessions, and have taken 10 tests plus a final exam, passing them all with flying colors. When you visit us, you can rest assured that your pet is handled with respect and gentle restraint. We are committed to providing YOUR pet with the most stress-free veterinary experience possible!
