Dr. Amelia Gessner-Knepel

Dr. Gessner is originally from the Metro Detroit area and attended both undergraduate and veterinary school at Michigan State University, spending her elective classes learning exotic pet and zoo medicine.

Next, she moved out to College Station, TX, for a small animal internship at the Texas A&M Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and then to South Florida, where she practiced primarily exotic pet medicine.

She and her husband then decided to make Wisconsin their home base and moved to Northeastern Wisconsin in 2016. You may have seen her after hours or on the weekends at the Fox Valley and Green Bay Blue Pearl Pet Hospitals (formerly Referral Centers) before joining the Gentle Vet team.

Dr. Gessner loves all species but has a special interest in exotic pets, zoo, and wildlife species. She enjoys working with the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and the NEW Zoo.

She currently lives in Appleton with her husband and son, Zander the cat, and Blue Bell, a pit bull mix. She enjoys team sports, fitness, baking, and ballroom dancing in her spare time.
