An area local, Dr. Karis Quandt-Walle grew up in Appleton before attending the University of Wisconsin, Madison for her undergraduate degree. During that time, she worked as a surgical technician at the vet school. She then attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2021.
While in school, she spent her elective classes on exotic animal, zoo, shelter medicine, and surgical-focused courses. In addition, Dr. QW was heavily involved in the wildlife medical clinic, working especially with birds of prey. This sparked her interest in exotic and avian medicine, and after graduating, she was eager to return to her homeland with her new skills. She is excited to help out with pet care, as well as wildlife cases, at Gentle Vet.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. QW can be found running, bird watching, playing rugby, attending rock shows, and exploring the great outdoors. She currently lives in Appleton with her cat, Bo.
